Introduction to GMT sheet performance

  Environmental Performance - GMT sheets are made from fiberglass and polypropylene. Due to their excellent environmental performance, compared to PU or hemp fiberboard, they contain no harmful substances such as benzene, aldehydes, or phenols that remain or evaporate. Interior components made from GMT sheets, when placed at 90 for 16 hours, show no foreign matter production; the product is recyclable;

Safety Performance - GMT boards have excellent flame-retardant properties, with a burning rate of less than 60 mm/min, fully complying with the requirement of less than 100 mm/min in GB8410. When products made of fiberglass are subjected to impact and break, the resulting blunt-angled and tough cracks provide protection for the human body;

 Physical properties - GMT boards possess excellent tensile strength, flexural strength, and impact resistance, with performance far exceeding that of materials such as hemp fiber, wood powder board, and polyurethane; simultaneously, GMT's loose mesh structure provides excellent thermal insulation and sound absorption properties;

 Mechanical Properties - GMT sheets possess excellent mechanical properties, including high bending performance and good impact resistance;

 Product performance After being heated, the GMT board expands to more than four times its original thickness, allowing for the molding of products with uneven thickness and simple shapes. The products maintain their shape without rebound and exhibit excellent dimensional stability;

Key factors affecting GMT board quality

1. Material Selection - For composite materials, material selection is crucial, as it relates to the cohesive strength and final performance of the composite material;

2. Mixing - The relationship between mixing and material homogeneity;

3. Impregnation - Impregnation also affects the uniformity and mechanical properties of the material;

4. Material heating temperature - Infrared heating equipment is generally selected. The oven temperature setting should ensure that the material surface temperature is between 190 and 220°C.

5. The heating time should be set according to the weight of the material, ranging from 80 to 180 seconds, to ensure that the material fully expands without degradation.

6. The mold pressure is generally selected as 0.2~0.3MPa, and the holding time is 40~60 seconds;
7. Cooling time - During forming, the operation should be rapid to ensure that the material is not excessively cooled before forming;

8. The material should be kept under a certain tension during forming; when the elongation of the part is small, a certain tension should be applied artificially.
